Fill Station Paperwork
Okay, we know that some fill stations are not as picky as we are about doing things “by the book.” It’s just that, in many instances, we wrote the book — and would have a tough time defending ourselves if we didn’t insist on doing what we said was important.
||What must divers do before removing cylinders containing gasses other than air from the fill station?
No filled cylinders containing gasses other than air are to leave the fill station until the user has:
- Analyzed cylinder content using a personal analyzer. Every Nitrox or technical diver should have a working oxygen analyzer. Every Nitrox or technical diving instructor must have one. Don’t ask to borrow ours.
- Marked the cylinder with the correct FO2 and MOD. You know, just like it says in every Nitrox Diver manual out there. Also label FHe, if applicable.
- Recorded FO2 and MOD in the fill station log and signed it. And, as with cylinder content labels, we want to see the actual FO2 and MOD — not the “wishful thinking” FO2 and MOD.
