Basic Cylinder RequirementsThe most dangerous thing our staff does here at the Grotto isn’t diving to well beyond the recommended depth limit for recreational scuba. Rather, it’s filling cylinders. In just the past few decades, three area dive operators have been seriously injured or killed in tank explosions. Understandably, we don’t want to become another statistic.
In order to be filled at the Grotto, all cylinders must have current hydros and inspections. Yes, we know that this should go without saying; however, we’ve seen too many divers with both personal and rental cylinders that fail to meet this industry standard. No hydro. No VIP. No fill. It’s that simple.
